In browsing YouTube, I came across this short video by a man who left the religion he had been diligently devoted to for many years. I relate to his story, though the religion he left was not Mormonism, but Islam. In it, he expresses views that I share. He says that once one has lost belief in a religion, continuing to practice it is an act of deception, and if there is a God, He would not want someone to pretend to believe that which he does not really believe. I couldn't agree more.

Wow. It's amazing how similar this is to my experience in Mormonism as well. The more I learn, the more I think that all authoritarianism is exactly the same.

ooh, I love the rest of the video too, so I don't know if I can just pinpoint one sentence to encapsulate things.

I hear they excommunicate via the sword in Islam! So quitting Islam would seem to take a LOT more gumption than leaving TSCC...
