NOM Song of the Week: I Want to Break Free

This week's NOM Song selection comes from Queen and is called "I Want to Break Free."  You may remember it from a Coca-Cola C-2 commercial a couple years back.

(I want to break free)
(I want to break free)
I want to break free from your lies
You're so self satisfied I don't need you
I've want to break free
God knows, God knows I want to break free

I've fallen in love
I've fallen in love for the first time
And this time I know it's for real
I've fallen in love, yeah
God knows, God knows I've fallen in love

It's strange but it's true
I can't get over the way you love me like you do
But I have to be sure
When I walk out that door
Oh how I want to be free, baby
Oh how I want to break free,
Oh how I want to break free

But life still goes on
I can't get used to, living without, living without,
Living without you by my side
I don't want to live alone, hey
God knows, got to make it on my own
So baby can't you see
God knows, gods know, gods know
I've want to break free

I am new to Mormon and ex-mo blogs despite my own ex-ness.

Do you mind if I ask what the heck is a New Order Mormon?

And what are DAMU blogs and discussion groups? What is DAMU?

New Order Mormons is a designation for those folks that don't believe many or any of the doctrines of the church, but still warm a pew because of family or social reasons. For some it is a transitional phase, for others it's a more long-term lifestyle - it depends on an individual's temperment and family situation. Follow the New Order Mormons link on the left-hand side to see the website and discussion board.

DAMU is short for DisAffected Mormon Undergound, which is a series of message boards and blogs for Mormons who are disaffected. NOM is one such DAMU board, but there are others.

Happy to answer your questions, AgnosticMom, and will take this chance to plug your site, which is most excellent and to which one may find a link under "Other Cool Sites" in the left sidebar.

New Order Mormons are those who no longer believe some or all of the doctrines (or policies, or dogma, or instructions, or pronouncements, you get the picture) of the LDS Church but remain connected to the church because of family, social or other considerations. In short, New Order Mormons are heretics with varying levels of participation and commitment to the LDS church.

DAMU is an acronym for DisAffected Mormon Underground. As an ex-mo, you know all about how difficult it is to be openly heretical about even minor points of church doctrine. The DAMU is a place for those with a connection to Mormonism (either present or past) to deal with issues associated with being Mormon or Ex-Mormon.

Thanks for visiting (and for commenting) on my blog!

As usual, -Domokun- beats me to the punch.

"As usual, -Domokun- beats me to the punch."

Only because it's Friday afternoon, and I'm trying to kill some time before leaving work. Oh, and I have no life, either.

Love that song, probably second only to Fat Bottomed Girls in the "all-time greatest Queen songs of all time" chart!
